Yarni Logus

Mama Told Me So - Co-writer, Bass

Yarni was born and raised in Western NSW. He's a big fan of the music of the 60s and 70s. He likes to rock, but is particularly attracted to the blues. Yarni never saw himself as a serious musician, but he did get around to teaching himself to play rhythm guitar.

In 2005 Yarni and his partner Jock (as of 2017 a seasoned PBGB Shedder ) started playing / singing with the Canberra based blues band 'Stormy Mondays'. They played parties and jammed at local blues clubs.  Yarni was coerced into playing the bass simply because no one else wanted to play it. But he took a shine to it, and now digs being da bass man.

In 2009 Jock and Yarni travelled to Europe, where they played with a couple of bands. They put together 'Jock's Blues Band' and played music festivals and bars, attracting some great players. Highlights included performing alongside one of Greece’s most talented bluesmen, Elias Zaikos from Blueswire, and Johnny Vavouris and his band 'The Cadillacs'.

Yarni's primary musical influences and heroes include The Doors, Buddy Guy, BB King, Albert King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Dutch Tilders, Chain, John Fogerty, Led Zeppelin, early Creedence, Robert Cray, 9 Below Zero, Eric Clapton, Chuck Berry and Cream. More contemporary performers Yarni follows include Leon Bridges, Jack Johnson, Bruno Mars and Milky Chance.

In 2015 Yarni and Jock moved to the beautiful Bega Valley and have, of course,  never looked back. Yarni still commutes to work in Canberra.

In 2016 Jock took up the mantle as lead singer with the Candelo Blues Club House Band. Through connections at the Blues Club Jock heard about PBGB. She came along, and loved it. Been a Shed regular ever since. That Yarni would eventually join Jock and the crew in The Shed was pretty much inevitable, and very welcome.

Yarni and Jock are great fun to play music with, and just downright good folk. We look forward to featuring way more of their music on the PBGB Blog.................watch this space !
