My first exposure to singing was in the womb! My mother entered eisteddfods all over Sydney and had a lovely voice. Mum sang in church every Sunday and Dad sang around the house and played harmonica.
I have always sung, though not always in front of others. That first occurred in the Sydney Town Hall in the St Stephen’s choir, doing Handel’s Messiah during the eighties. I watched the soloists and wandered whether I might ever become one myself, it was mesmerising.
The odd singing gig, for the entertainment of others, happened rarely over the next decades during my ski vagabond period. After settling in Merimbula, a choir beckoned in 2005 and offered some soul nourishment. I’ve sung with a choir ever since and had the amazing chance to sing at the famous Carnegie Hall in NYC earlier in 2016 with the Bega based Heartsong Choir.
I stumbled upon PBGB by attending local live gigs and finally plucked up the courage to ask whether I might join in. Writing, and then recording 'Sugar' with the support of the talented crew from the PBGB Shed has been a dream that PBGB made happen! Perhaps I've turned on a tap and songs will keep on coming, I kinda feel it in me waters.
Thanks everyone at The Shed. Love and harmony to all. Kerry
